What is Spotter?
Spotter is an iPhone app for people who want to slow down or stop gambling. You link your bank, Spotter adds up the money that goes to gambling, and the people you choose, your spotters, see those totals. They never see the individual transactions.
Can my family see what I bet on?
No. Your spotters see totals only. They never see the type of bet, only that money in your account went to a gambling site.
How does Spotter know a transaction is gambling?
Spotter links your accounts through Plaid and checks each transaction against a list of gambling operators.
Is Spotter a gambling blocker?
No. Spotter does not block apps, sites or payments, and it never moves, holds or sends money. It makes the money you spend on gambling visible to the people you trust. You can use it alongside a blocker, a bank gambling block or self-exclusion.
Is my bank login safe?
Bank linking goes through Plaid, the same service many banking and budgeting apps use. Spotter never sees your bank password, and bank access tokens are never stored on your phone. We keep only the gambling-matched transactions and the totals built from them.
Who are “spotters”?
Spotters are the people you pick by name, such as a partner, a parent or a friend. You approve each one, you can always see how many people can see your totals, and you can remove anyone in one tap with no waiting period. Spotting is view-only: there is no chat and no messaging inside the app.
I’m a partner or parent. Can I use Spotter to keep an eye on someone?
Only if they invite you. The account owner links their own bank and approves each spotter by name, so you cannot add yourself to someone’s account or see anything without their consent. Spotter is for adults 18 and over, never for monitoring a minor.
What is ghost mode?
Ghost mode pauses sharing for whole days, with no waiting period in either direction. Your spotters see that ghost mode is on, since when, and how many ghost days you have had this month, but nothing dated on a ghost day is ever shared, even after you turn it off. You still see your own totals the whole time.
How much does Spotter cost?
Spotter is a paid membership with monthly and annual plans, billed through the App Store. The standard annual price at launch is $99.99 a year. If you join the waitlist now, your first year is $69.99, and the membership renews at the standard price unless you cancel. Everyone pays, including the people who spot you, so nobody is the product.
What do I get for joining the waitlist?
A locked-in first year at $69.99 instead of $99.99, and one email on launch day with your personal link. Nothing is charged today; you pay in the App Store when you redeem the link. We only email you about the launch, and you can be removed at any time by replying “remove”.
Can someone else pay for my membership?
Yes. A member can cover 12 months for someone else, and someone who needs a membership can share a request link that a friend or family member pays once, anonymously if they prefer. Paying never grants access to anyone’s totals: sharing is always a separate choice you make, person by person.
Where is Spotter available, and on which devices?
Spotter launches in the United States in late 2026, for iPhone, and is for adults 18 and over. Bank linking needs a US bank account supported by Plaid. There is no Android version yet.
Is Spotter treatment for a gambling problem?
No. Spotter is not therapy, counseling or a medical service, and it makes no promises about outcomes. If you need help now, call or text the National Problem Gambling Helpline at 1-800-522-4700, or call or text 988. Both are free, confidential and open 24/7.
How do I delete my data?
In the app, delete your account from your profile. That removes your account, your transactions and totals, and your spotters’ access, whether or not you are subscribed. On the waitlist, reply “remove” to any email from us or write to support@getyourspotter.com and we delete your address from our database and from our email provider. Details are in the privacy notice.
